Feedback cutoff extended

AMENDEMENTS to the Land Management Code 2018 will continue to accept feedback until August 1.

The public consultation, which began on June 6, invites feedback on proposed amendments to the code.

Amendments made are designed to improve native vegetation management and environmental outcomes on private rural land across New South Wales.

A discussion paper has been released to allow community members, landholders and stakeholders to have their say on these amendments.

The code regulates management of native vegetation and outlines the types of clearing activities and management allowed and how they are to be carried out.

Management of invasive native species and mosaic thinning, along with ensuring vegetation areas that are larger than areas to be cleared, are required under the code.

The 2024 NSW Plan For Nature was released in response to statutory reviews of the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016 and the native vegetation provisions of the Local Land Services Act 2013.

The NSW Government now plan to amend the code as part of the Plan For Nature, implementing all 13 recommendations from the Local Land Services Act statutory review, with two variations.

To read the discussion paper and provide feedback on the proposed amendments visit: https://www.nsw.gov.au/have-your-say/land-management-code-amendments

Submissions will close on Friday 1 August, and will inform the final changes to the code.
