Philharmonic Choir to perform

THE Philharmonic Choir will be performing their Sun, Moon and Stars concert at the Musicians Club auditorium later this month, after gathering for weekly rehearsals since February.

Choir conductor Di Magor said that the performance will be a mix of musical numbers from the choir, solo performances and some poetry.

“We’re going to throw in a little poetry this time as well,” she said. “There’s also quite a few solos on the same theme of course.”

Magor said she came up with the theme when thinking about Michael Buble’s rendition of Van Morrison’s Moondance, after realising how many songs were about the sun, moon and stars.

“When you look at it, there’s a lot of poetry about those things, but also a lot of songs,” she said.

She said choir numbers are still strong, and a few new members have even joined in recent months.

“We also have four teenage girls in the choir, which is unheard of,” Magor said.

Tickets can be purchased at the doors on concert night, which is Sunday, May 25.

Adult tickets are $20, children are $15 and family passes are $50.
