Where and how to vote

FINAL voting in the 2025 Federal Election is just a day away, with booths opening around the country on Saturday, May 3, from 8am until 6pm.

In Broken Hill and surrounding regions there are seven polling places to vote including Broken Hill Alma Public School, PCYC Broken Hill on Gypsum Street, Broken Hill Burke Ward Public School, Broken Hill North Public School, Morgan Street Public School, Menindee Civic Hall, and Wilcannia Central Darling Council Hall are all hosting voting sites.

When voting there’s two pieces of paper: a green one for The House of Representatives, and a white one for the Senate.

On the green slip, voters need to number every candidate listed, from first to least preferred. On the senate paper electors can choose to vote either above or below the line.

Above the line means numbering at least six boxes from one to six. Voting below the line means numbering at least 12 boxes from one to 12.
