Lions Club barbecue for retirees

LIONS Club Broken Hill has held its annual Christmas barbecue, celebrating World Services Day, at the Southern Cross Care homes.

Lions Club of Broken Hill treasurer, John Carney OAM, said the annual tradition is made possible by members working together.

“This year we had eight Lions members and some partners too cooking barbecues at St Anne’s Nursing Home, Harold Williams Home, Aruma Lodge, Con Crowley Village and War Vet’s Retirement Village all on the same day,” he said.

Southern Cross Care Broken Hill regional general manager Larni Baird said the day was a good opportunity for the community to spend time together.

“Our heartfelt thanks to the Lions Club for their generosity and effort in cooking for our community,” she said.

“The residents and staff not only thoroughly enjoyed the delicious barbecue but also loved the opportunity to come together and enjoy the summer weather. The Lions members’ support truly brightened everyone’s day.”
