Operation takes proactive approach

DOMESTIC and family violence was in focus during Operation Amarok VIII, which ran statewide last week, with police offers in the Barrier district targeting local domestic violence offenders.

Barrier Police District Acting Inspector Matt Sippel said the operation focused on compliance related to domestic violence offending.

“This includes checking up on victims and ensuring that those people involved in domestic violence offending are complying with their AVOs, court orders and bail,” he said.

“Making sure the support services are in place and that orders are being complied with.

“We rely on the public to provide us that information, and one of the platforms we use is our Eyewatch page.”

The Eyewatch page for the region is the Barrier Police District Facebook page, which has persons of interest pictured and features appeals to the public.
