THE people behind a new group aiming to support women who have loved ones in prison is currently seeking expressions of interest.
Organiser Lois Eaton is looking for expressions of interest from potential members, whilst also finding a meeting place for the new group.
“I’m just starting out now to see what the interest is, I have been offered a space from a local church and potentially Lifeline,” she said.
“I’m hoping that we’ll be able to provide support for women who have loved ones in gaol”.
Ms Eaton said this group is needed in the community.
“There’s nothing like that in Broken Hill and I think it’s a very serious need,” she said.
“These women need to be able to sit down and chat with other women who’ve been through the same.
“I have experienced this myself, I have a loved one in gaol.
“It can be very lonely. You’re scared to tell people because you’re not sure how they’ll react.
“You’re scared they’ll reject you”.
