Native gardening workshop

AS part of Marnpi Festival, Slag Heap Projects and Landcare Broken Hill are partnering to continue the revitalization of Oxide Street with a native gardening workshop to be held this Sunday (July 27).

The free workshop will see attendees learn the basics of native community gardening, with advice about prepping, planting and caring for a shared plot of garden at Premier Automotive Tyres.

Budding gardeners are invited to partake in hands-on skill-building exercises while beautifying the streetside garden on Oxide Street.

The focus of the gardening session will be to discover native and resilient plants that are ideal for public spaces.

The resulting garden will be a place of gathering near the Slag Heap Gallery space, to be utilized in next weekends Marnpi Festival.

All materials and light food will be provided, with no prior skill or experience required. Attendees are encouraged to bring gloves and a shovel if they have them.

The workshop will run from 10am on Sunday, meeting at Shop 4, 217 Oxide Street, Broken Hill.
