Man found with 40kgs cannabis

A man has been charged by police after 40kgs of cannabis was discovered during a vehicle stop on Friday.

At approximately 3.15pm on Friday, April 25, Barrier Traffic and Highway Patrol officers conducted road-side breath testing as part of Operation Anzac Day.

The breath testing took place on the Barrier Highway approximately 150m east of the New South Wales and South Australian Border.

A 64 year old driver, the only occupant of the Mazda CX5 he was driving, was stopped, and during a police search it’s alleged that 40kgs of cannabis was discovered in his possession, with an estimated street value of $800,000.

The man has been arrested at Broken Hill Police Station and charged with supply of a prohibited drug of commercial quantity and possession of a prohibited drug.
