Pottery Fair to make mum’s day

THE Broken Hill Potters Society are hosting their annual Mother’s Day Craft and Pottery fair this weekend at 407 Wyman Street.

The market will run from 8am-3pm on Saturday and 9am-3pm on Sunday, where a variety of handmade ceramics, quilts, children’s clothes and more will be for sale.

There’ll be a sausage sizzle on Saturday and Devonshire tea and coffee, pancakes and scones.

Potter, Sandy Bright said the fair will be a great spot to pick up gifts for mothers and grandmothers in celebration of Mother’s Day next weekend.

“People are encouraged to bring their mums and grandmas, a lot of people do that, but it’s so they can buy gifts!” she said.

“There will also be demonstrations; there are people who do folk art and things like that who will come at different times.”

Ms Bright said the Potters Society host two fairs a year: one before Christmas and one before Mother’s Day, and the potters gather weekly to make new ceramics each time.

“The last one at Christmas was just wonderful,” she said.

“We did really well. We’ll also have a garage sale this time which will be outside, selling all sorts of household items that are going to be repurposed.”

Ms Bright encouraged those planning on attending the fair to bring cash, as limited EFTPOS facilities will be available.
