ALLEGED child sex offender Thomas Mckeown has once again had his committal adjourned at Broken Hill Local Court on Tuesday.
This is the sixth time the case has been adjourned, and his lawyer Adam Ly, who appeared by video link, noted that this adjournment until July 29 will mean nine months have passed since Mr Mckeown was first charged in September 2024.
Mr Mckeown is a former teacher from the Broken Hill area, though is currently residing in Sydney with his parents, fiance and young child.
He is on bail, with conditions including that he have no contact with minors other than his child; he also surrendered his passport and is unable to leave the state. When leaving his house he must be accompanied by his fiance or parents.
The Crown Prosecutor noted that the reason for the ongoing adjournments is due to there being 22 complainants, an increase from the original five.
Mr Mckeown did not appear, and has asked to be excused from his next committal hearing on July 29.
