Wests primed for new season

WEST Broken Hill Cricket Club, which has recruited well in the off-season, especially in the the men’s teams, will look to the new and old heads to push for early points in what is anticipated to be a tough A grade competition.

With returning players Matt Handberg, Lachie Harvey, Daniel Milne and new recruits Luke Jardines, and brothers Junaid and Jawad Azam, West will go into the new season with plenty of depth in A and B grades

A grade will be led by Macka Attard and Lawrence Hebbard, with seniors Perry Christos and company set to bring on young players L. Kay, C. Stenhouse, J. Meehan, Tom Burke, Jack Burke and C. Ferguson this season.

B Grade will be led by co-captains Aussie Ferguson and Ben Mcinerney, with Matt Adams, Liam Squire, Liam Pascoe, Josh Holes and Jack Burke fronting up again under new coach Adam Perry.

The women’s team is rebuilding this season with new recruits Kendra Bugmy and Phoebe Knell on board to help out.

Senior players Honson, Cuy, Knott, Fobister will help mentor juniors Attard, Summers, Christos and Borchard, who are stepping up.

Mike McKee will bring a wealth of experience as their coach this season, while retiring Lee Wilson will be missed.
